Barefoot Running

A lot of attention has been given to the concept of barefoot running. Its certainly been controversial, especially the way the reseach has been used. What ever one things about barefoot running, it can not be ignored and more and more barefoot runners are getting injuries. Barefoot running is not new, but the increased recent focus on it is, in part, due to the book, Born to Run by Christopher McDougall:

It is recommended that Podiatrists read this book. Some parts of it are grasping at straws and the research has been overstated by the author to make claims that the research did not actually show, but its still a good story and worth a read.

Full of incredible characters, amazing athletic achievements, cutting-edge science, and, most of all, pure inspiration, Born to Run is an epic adventure that began with one simple question: Why does my foot hurt? In search of an answer, Christopher McDougall sets off to find a tribe of the world’s greatest distance runners and learn their secrets, and in the process shows us that everything we thought we knew about running is wrong.
